This post covers common tasks for OTM application administrators — finding the installation path, restarting the application, applying Oracle patches, and resetting admin passwords.

OTM installation path:

To find the OTM home directory, log in to the OTM application and access the PropertiesServlet:

http://otm-server:7777/GC3/glog.webserver.properties.PropertiesServlet

Click List to display the current G-Log properties. Note the following property — this is the base OTM installation path:

gc3.dir: /home/oracle/otm

This is referred to as $OTM_HOME throughout this post. The actual path differs per installation depending on where your system administrator placed the OTM software.

Oracle DBA notes

The following quick-reference notes cover common Oracle DBA tasks for maintaining an OTM on-premise database. These activities are typically performed by a DBA rather than an application administrator.

Start the database after an OS reboot:

Log in to the OS as a super user and start the Oracle Listener process. The Listener receives client connection requests and routes traffic to the database server.

G-Log Properties

The G-Log Properties file on the OTM App and Web servers holds the configuration that controls interactions between the App, Web, and Database tiers. It also contains configurable application settings such as the number of results to display on search screens. Always take a backup of the current file before making any changes — the file is read during application reboot and any corruption will cause application issues.
