OTM ships with a variety of screens for each business object — Shipment, Order Release, and others — and most of these screens can be copied and customized to show only the data elements relevant to a particular user or role. For example, a user may need to query a shipment by a custom attribute, see only selected columns in the results, and open a view-only layout to prevent accidental edits. All of this can be configured from the OTM UI using Manager Layouts and Screen Sets.

Action Checks

Action Checks allow you to add custom validations on manager layouts before data is saved to the database. This is useful when a screen has conditional mandatory fields — for example, requiring either a pre-existing location XID or a full set of address fields, but not both.

Example Scenario:

A custom manager layout allows users to enter PO details. The destination can be set by selecting an existing Location XID, or by entering a new address (address line 1, zip code, etc.) using custom attributes. The validation must ensure that at least one of these two options is populated before the record is saved.

Custom Actions & Smart Links

Custom Actions allow users to trigger an agent or perform an operation directly from the OTM UI against a selected list of transactions. Smart Links are similar but operate on a single selected record and navigate the user to related data. The example below shows how to configure a custom action that triggers an INVOICE agent when a user selects ‘Reprocess Invoice’ from the Actions menu on a list of invoices.

Advanced Layouts

Advanced Layouts allow you to build screens that display multiple related business objects side by side. For example, you can show shipments matching a complex saved query in one panel, and the corresponding order releases for a selected shipment in an adjacent panel — all on the same screen.

This is useful when the default query criteria on standard screens is not flexible enough, or when planners need a combined view of parent and child records without navigating between separate screens.

Workbenches

Workbenches provide an easy way for users to view data across multiple object types on the same screen and load data using a default query as soon as the workbench is launched.

There are several ways to configure a workbench, but below is a simple example of how to create a three-level hierarchy showing Order Releases related to a PO and Shipments related to those Order Releases.

A workbench has one or more layouts and each layout can be associated to content from standard object types like Order Base, Order Release, etc.
